2007 Atlantic Hurricane Names

I found this list of the 2007 Atlantic Hurricane names on the NOOA website.

Once again, they're warning of a busy hurricane season.

Webmaster's note: Not all of the storms checked below necessarily reached "hurricane" strength. This is just a list of the names used in 2007. Update: If the storm becomes a hurricane, I'll try to remember to add the date.

  1. May 9 - The first named storm (Andrea)of the year formed Wednesday off the southeastern U.S. coast, more than three weeks before the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season, forecasters said. She has winds at 45 mph and is not considered a major threat at this time.
  2. Sept 4 - Felix became a named tropical storm and within 24 hours was at category 2 strength. It hit the Yucatan peninsula two days later as a category 5 storm.
  3. Dec 10 - "Olga" becomes a tropical storm over Hispanola. In December! Of course, locally we set a record high temperature for today,in the high 70s. And only a week ago, we set a record for earliest recorded snow-fall on Dec 5. And I wonder why my sinuses are all FUBAR.
