This way back to the Ranch   Okay, the coming Millenium has started to creep into my personal space.....

Oh where to begin? Ordinarily I avoid discussions of Religion (and Politics) like the plague. But lately I've noticed an increase in the instances of religious discussions around me. And even in the press. No doubt it is all due to the coming Millenium. You'd have to be living in a cave to miss the fact that a lot of people are scared of the Millenium. Even without the effects of the "Y2k" bug that is destined to destroy the western world as we know it.

(hee, hee)

But this sort of blind groping toward religion bothers me. I suppose it is one aspect of faith. Somewhere to turn when there is nowhere to turn. But I am concerned for/about those legions that will turn blindly to anyone or anything for comfort. Perhaps it will serve as some Darwinian thinning of the herd. Perhaps it is just some lemming-like behavior programmed into humanity from the Beginning.

Me? I have no worries directly related to the Millenium. I do plan to have my butt firmly planted in a chair on the ground. There probably will be computer glitches we'll all read about over the first few months of 2000. I don't think it will signal the beginning of the end. I doubt we will hear the blowing of the trumpets of doom, or whatever hails the Final Reckonning.

And I doubt it will begin another Dark Ages like the Y1k problem.
