A Day at the Lake |
My friends and family should be proud. I actually went somewhere and did something while on vacation. Generally I
don't take more than two or three days off in a row. Generally because I don't plan on going anywhere, or doing anything special.
But this Memmorial Day weekend was different. Even though I had a whole week off and only went somewhere for a day.
But it was damn fun! Basically, most of the tail-gating crew got together at Lake Tillery where one lucky couple has
a house right on the lake. And they own a Ski-Doo. I've never ridden one of them before. Am I glad I took the opportunity!
Oh, naturally, there was some drinking going on, but it only took one beer to get me onto the thing. And about 3 beers before
I fell off the thing. Fortunately, I was going slow, and right there near the dock. At least the first time I fell off, anyway.

Yes, jet-skis rock!
I know at one point, according to the speedometer on the thing, I was going 45mph across the water. At least I was able to hold on.
I imagine it would hurt to fall off at that speed. Not to mention having to swim a ways to catch up to it. Of course, the next day,
my entire lower body was all knotted up from the unusual activity. You don't sit on the jet-ski at those higher speeds. You sort of
balance on your feet, and hold on to the handlebars. Let your legs handle the shock of crossing wakes and small waves. Thank goodness for Ibuprofen!

Makin' another pass for the photo-op
