chunkking does Seattle! |
Day one, my associate (the guy who was to train me) and I were to drive north to Resort Semiahmoo for a company sales meeting. This is a beautiful seaside resort with some wonderful scenery.

Looking away from the ocean, we see Mt. Baker. I'm told it holds the record for the most snow fall in one place: 144 ft. back in '97 or '98. And while Mt. Baker is impressive, it doesn't have the same visual impact as Mt. Rainier...but I didn't have any film left when I got to see it.
Turning back to the ocean, there is a wonderful little bay. I have some panoramic shots of the whole penisula you see in the background, but I'm haven't figured how to stitch them together yet.

This is just an "inspired" shot of the sail boat as it went by. An "art" shot if you will. Hey, it's my camera and I'll take a picture if I wanna!
The next two days were pretty much filled with work and pretty boring so I'll spare you the details. But on Friday, I took off at noon and met up with my uncle. He lives in the city during the week and his house in the mountains during the weekends:

Yup, it's a dome home. I've always wanted to look around in one of these. And I must say I was impressed. I could live in one of these. And it's set on 25 acres of scenic landscape. And in my humble opinion, if I could get a date out to this place, I bet her clothes would just fly off! I'm always thinking.
One of the borders of the property is a small river which I just can't name at the moment. I'm still pre-occupied with the thought of clothes flying off. Anyway, we hiked all over the property and I suddenly remembered that I should get pictures of myself, too.

I call this one "Gee you can get a city boy to do anything!"
Early the next morning we did some local sight-seeing. Drove over to a little town called Leavenworth. The whole town is done up like a Bavarian village. A sort of tourist trap in the middle of nowhere.

But as you can see, it was very scenic. I felt inspired to take a picture of the surrounding mountains rather than the decorated town.
Then it was off to Seattle. We stopped at uncle's house in town to clean up a bit as we were going to meet his girlfriend for dinner. Then a quick drive through town. We did stop at Seattle City Center where the Space Needle and the Interactive Music Museum are located. But with the Yankees/Marlins playoff in town..it was just too damn crowded.
We proceeded over to the other side of Puget sound and found a scenic pull-out. It was conveniently situated to provide a view of the city.

Here's another "proof" shot. Proof that chunkking was here. If you look closely, you can see the Space Needle on the left side of the picture.
Then it was off to the other side of Seattle, and the other side of Elliot Bay. Geez, I'm hoping I get all these bays straight.

Another "art" shot from the far side of Elliot Bay looking toward the Space Needle.
While it was a whirlwind trip, I got to see plenty and I got to visit with my uncle a bit more. And maybe when it warms up in 2001, I'll finally get over to the Atlantic Ocean again and then I can truly say I've been coast-to-coast. I hope you enjoyed my brief photo-tour.
